HV PPE standards (High Visibility Personal Protective Equipment)
The Labor Code requires the employer to provide employees with the necessary PPE free of charge and personally (art. R.4321-1) and to ensure that they are used properly.
It imposes high-visibility individual signage in situations where it is necessary or even essential to be seen: construction sites on roads and motorways, firefighters, emergency and rescue teams, docks, airports, etc.
The interministerial instruction on road signs specifies the conditions for wearing high-visibility clothing: “Anyone working on foot on the roadway during a construction site or a temporary danger must wear class 2 or 3 high-visibility signaling clothing.”
